Cars in German Town Discovered Covered with Swastikas in Human Blood, Police Confirm

Officers mentioned they were contacted by a resident who noticed a vehicle in Hanau covered with red-colored substance

Approximately fifty cars have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.

Cars, walls and postboxes were marked, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they announced in a official communication.

Officers state they were alerted during the night on Wednesday, when a resident discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued fluid.

The substance had been placed in the pattern of a banned symbol, they reported.

Police then found many other marked automobiles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under laws outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.

Officials say early analysis indicate the substance was likely human blood.

"There is still no indication as to where it came from; investigators are not yet aware of any injuries in relation with the incident," they commented.

Local authorities announced they were trying "to unravel the incident" and have appealed to the community for tips.

A senior representative stated the incident made him speechless and had to be resolved rapidly.

"This event strikes at the core of Hanau and revives the wounds of the right-wing attack half a decade ago," he stated on social media, recalling the murder of nine victims by a assailant aiming at people of foreign heritage in five years prior.
