Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a wide array of characters, and a thrilling plot showcasing angels, fiends, and dark forces increasing in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Heads-up: Spoilers for Episode 3 of the new season lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Revealed
The third episode ended with a huge suspense moment and revealed the premier party of characters who will split off from the central cast to undertake their separate journey, separate from the remaining groups.
This warrior group consists of the determined fighter (played by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
Given 13 cast members, it was evident from the outset that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
This explains, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Prelude, connecting the characters’ stories before dividing into three distinct groups: Warriors, Planners, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
As described by the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for participants who are drawn to a traditionally charged battle-oriented story mode where peaceful solutions are scarce.
At first glance, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander might look unsuited, but the actions of the third episode demonstrate why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the combat party.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the group understands precisely where to go next after a violent opening clash with the antagonists.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose passing initiated the story’s plot—exploited the enemy for his own means, breaking into the hidden lair, assaulting Thimble, and taking all the powerful objects to dispose of.
Casimir then settled his debts and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, beyond the city, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each character has a specific drive to exit the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as the companion and best friend, seeks revenge.
- Kattigan has experience in the region and advises that it is a nasty environment.
- Tyranny and The healer, having defied his house’s orders to eliminate Teor and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their reputation as important members in the influential clan could enable the group reach areas they normally couldn’t.
- Additionally, The grateful character vowed a unbreakable promise to The savior for his rescue and will now follow him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
In addition, all of them are wanted by the rulers that rule the city for a multiple motives, making lingering locally too risky:
- The agile adventurer and The character are known criminals.
- The warrior and Wicander defied House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by the family.
This means them no alternative but to travel to Timmony in search of Casimir.
