A revitalized Daniil Medvedev claimed his first trophy for 882 days with a win over opponent Moutet in the tournament final.

The Russian, a ex- number one, has had a difficult year, managing just one match at the big events and experiencing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serve in especial - resulted in him exiting of the world's top 10 and ultimately splitting with long-time mentor his previous coach.

Presently working with his coach and his other coach, Medvedev has consistently progressed in the recent weeks - culminating in a tightly fought competitive triumph over opponent Moutet.

This marks his initial championship since the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard court since spring of 2023.

Victory also means he has achieved 21 championships at twenty-one various tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a event with my children together, so to get a trophy is particularly special," said tennis professional the champion.

"This victory is in tribute of my younger daughter her name, because the maiden victory I got when my child her name was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his previous six finals, comprising in the German tournament previously this season.

His defensive strategy and recurring emotional displays on court had caused some to wonder if his skill to play at the top level was concluded.

But the athlete has made changes in the past month, striving to advance forward and play aggressively, backed up by an improved serve.

He fought back from a deficit in the opening set against the tricky Frenchman, winning four of the final five exchanges to go ahead.

Both players exchanged break points in the following set before the Frenchman, bidding for his initial professional championship, gained dominance to create a decider.

Moutet defended four early opportunities in a close deciding set before the Russian won the break to 15 to close out the victory.

Fittingly, Medvedev clinched the title with a point at the net area, with the Frenchman incapable to manage a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
